Terroir

Situated at elevations of between 1,800 to 2,200 feet our mountain vineyard is composed of red rocky volcanic soils studded with “Lake County Diamonds."

The growing season is marked by warm, bright, sunny days and cool evenings. Fed by on-site artisan spring water and some of the cleanest air in the nation, the microclimate of Hawk and Horse Vineyards possesses natural growing conditions perfectly suited to producing Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varietals of distinction. Biodynamic and Organic farming practices enable us to work in harmony with topography, soil, and climate to bring out the truest expression of this very special terroir. Our aim is to produce wine with a sense of place – wine which is unique in style and cannot be precisely duplicated anywhere else.
