2017 Cabernet Franc

By Michael Chelus, NittanyEpicurean, March 21, 2022

This wine is 100% cabernet franc from the winery’s 18-acre estate mountain vineyard. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels (40% new). It comes in at 14.3% ABV.

The wine showed a dark garnet color. Black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, licorice, blackberry and oak could each be found on the nose. Black cherry, raspberry and vanilla were easily discernible on the palate followed by nuanced notes of currant, eucalyptus, licorice and oak. The wine was full-bodied and exhibited great length along with soft tannins. This wine would pair very well with a hearty lamb stew.

This wine can be purchased for $65 directly from the winery’s website.
